    Mule Deer

    River Ranch is home to a heard of Mule Deer that take up yearly residence. You can find huge bucks dozing by the Ranch House or a few does grabbing a snack in your front yard.

    Rainbow Trout

    Rainbow Trout can be found in Payette, River. Which River Ranch has 2.5 miles of river front access making for easy fly fishing trips! Trout are also stocked in the 5 lakes on the property.

    Mountain Bluebird

    Enjoy your coffee outside listening to the chirps of the powder-blue male mountain bluebirds as they flitter between perches. Mountain Bluebirds take very well to nesting boxes.

    Osprey

    You will have easy access to fishing with the 5 private lakes and 2.5 miles of Payette River access but don’t be suprised to find yourself outmatched by the Ospreys fishing skills as they swoop in for your catch!

    Moose

    Majestic Moose are most likely to be spotted along the river. Especially in areas such as the 80 acres of conservation land that River Ranch provides for its residents to explore.

    Brook Trout

    Brook Trout can be found in the Payette River and are known for their stunning colors that are exceptionally bright during the fall season. Matching the colorful aspens in the conservation areas.

    Red Fox

    You may spot these shy little creatures sprinting across a field, trying to catch the local birds, or even catching a nap in a quiet patch of trees.

    These stunning woodpecks are attracted to River Ranch because of the abundant trees, over 4,000 of them planted across River Ranch’s 458 acres.

    Take a morning stroll along the 7.5 miles of trails that River Ranch has and you may be lucky enough to spot a family of River Otters playing together in Payette River.

    Beaver

    Did you know that beavers were parachuted into this part of Idaho in the 40’s as a relocation effort and to utilize beavers to help with improving the heavily forested habitat for other mammals?

    McCall is adjacent to thousands of acres of national forest land so having a black bear wander through River Ranch in search of an easy snack is a likely occurance!

    During the summer season, you may spot a broad-winged hawk watching over your home and then soaring off over River Ranch’s expansive property in search of its next meal.

    Morel Mushrooms

    Morels are coveted mushrooms that will send people on elaborate hunts to collect some of the delicious fungi that can typically only be found during March - May. Keep a look out while in moist areas around river bottoms.

    Lodgepole Pine

    River Ranch planted over 4,000 trees across its 458 acres. Focusing on many of the native tree species that can be found in McCall and Payette National Forest. The Lodgepole Pine is one of the most abundant species in the national forest.

    Lupine

    River Ranch is home to a rainbow of wildflowers but Lupine is one that stands out. There are more than 200 natural varieties in North America and they help improve degraded soil. The Lupine seeds are even edible!

    Aspens are recognizable from their white bark and eye-shaped notches along their trunks. Aspens love water are most likely to be found along river bottoms and streams. Did you know that a grove of aspens shares the same root system?

    The Buttercup wildflower is a bright hello in the mornings during the later spring and early summer months. These beautiful flowers attract lots of bees and pollinators like hummingbirds around!
